Bridge 2026 Recap: 5 Conversations That Had Everyone Talking

Every year, DMAW’s Bridge Conference brings together nonprofit leaders, agencies, marketers, printers, and technology partners to share ideas and explore what’s next for fundraising and direct marketing.

After spending a few days talking with attendees, sitting in sessions, and connecting with clients and partners, one thing became clear: while technology continues to evolve, the biggest conversations weren’t about replacing direct mail, they were about making every communication work harder.

Here are five themes we heard throughout Bridge 2026.

1. Doing More With Less Isn’t Going Away

If there was one challenge nearly everyone agreed on, it’s that teams are still being asked to accomplish more with limited staff and tighter budgets.

We also heard a lot of conversations around using AI as a practical tool, not to replace people, but to help teams work more efficiently by saving time on everyday tasks so they can focus on higher-value work.

Organizations are looking for partners who can simplify projects, eliminate unnecessary steps, and help campaigns move from concept to mailbox faster.

Efficiency isn’t just a nice bonus anymore; it’s becoming a competitive advantage.

2. Testing Is Becoming the New Standard

Instead of launching one campaign and hoping for the best, more organizations are embracing continuous testing.

From envelope formats and messaging to personalization and QR codes, fundraisers are looking for ways to learn from every mailing and improve the next one.

The ability to produce shorter runs quickly is becoming increasingly valuable.

3. Everyone Wants Better Response Rates

No surprise here.

Whether attendees worked for nonprofits, agencies, healthcare organizations, or commercial businesses, the question was the same:

“How do we get more people to respond?”

The answers weren’t about a single tactic. They centered around stronger creative, better targeting, compelling offers, and removing friction for the recipient.

4. The Mailbox Still Matters

Despite all the discussion around digital channels, direct mail continues to be viewed as one of the most trusted ways to reach people.

What has changed is how it’s being used.

Organizations are integrating mail with digital touchpoints, personalized landing pages, email, and online giving to create a connected experience rather than relying on a single communication.

5. Relationships Continue to Drive Results

One of the best parts of Bridge has always been the conversations outside the sessions.

Some of the most valuable ideas came from reconnecting with longtime clients, meeting new partners, and hearing how organizations are adapting to today’s challenges.

Those conversations reinforced something we’ve always believed: successful campaigns start with strong relationships between organizations and their supporters, and between clients and the partners they trust.

Looking Ahead

Bridge 2026 left us energized about where the industry is headed.

At CP Direct, we’re continuing to invest in the technology, capabilities, and partnerships that help our clients produce smarter, more effective direct mail campaigns, from digital printing to our newest envelope converting capabilities.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, shared ideas, or simply took a few minutes to catch up. We always leave Bridge with new perspectives, stronger relationships, and excitement for what’s ahead.

We’ll see you next year!
